Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari, also known as River City Ransom in Western markets, is an action beat 'em up game developed by Technōs Japan for the Famicom (NES) in 1989. It combines classic beat 'em up elements with RPG mechanics and is known for its humorous tone, open world and free leveling system that allows players to collect skills and money to upgrade their characters. The mix of action, role-playing elements and unique presentation made the game a classic and one of the most recognizable Famicom titles of the late 80s.
