Worms: Odyssey in Worm Space is a turn-based tactical game that was released exclusively for the Nintendo Wii in 2008. Developed by Team17, Worms: Odyssey in Worm Space is part of the popular Worms series, which is characterized by humorous, strategic battles between worm teams. In Worms: Odyssey in Worm Space, however, the worms experience a whole new adventure - in a science fiction world.
The game mechanics of Worms: Odyssey in Wormspace remain true to the tried and tested formula: two teams of worms fight against each other on various destructible 2D maps. Players in Worms: Odyssey in Wormspace have a variety of weapons and tools at their disposal, from simple grenades to fancy futuristic weapons such as lasers, UFOs and rocket launchers. The aim is to eliminate the enemy worms with targeted attacks while your own team survives.
What sets Worms: Odyssey in Wormspace apart from other parts of the series is the science fiction setting, which transports the worms into space. As a result, there are new, exotic environments and exciting, thematically appropriate weapons and power-ups. The Wii Remote is also cleverly used, for example to aim the weapons or perform special actions - a new feature for the Wii version.
Worms: Odyssey in Worm Space offers both a single-player mode, in which players go on the hunt for victory through various missions and campaigns, and a multiplayer mode, in which up to four players can compete against each other locally.
With its humorous charm, strategic depth and colorful space setting, Worms: Odyssey in Wormspace offers an entertaining change of pace for fans of the series and for players who enjoy turn-based, tactical battles.
