The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is an epic action-adventure game that was released in 1991 in Japan and 1992 in Europe for the Super Nintendo. Developed by Nintendo under the direction of Shigeru Miyamoto, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is still considered one of the most influential and popular titles in the entire Zelda series - and a milestone of the 16-bit era.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past tells the story of the young hero Link, who responds to a mysterious call for help from Hyrule Castle. He soon becomes embroiled in a great adventure that not only pits him against the sinister wizard Agahnim, but also leads him into a dark parallel world - the so-called Dark World. There Link must free seven wise men, find the legendary Master Sword and finally face the evil Ganon in order to save the kingdom of Hyrule.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is played from the classic top-down perspective. The world is vast, varied and packed with secrets, dungeons, enemies and puzzles. Each new item you acquire - be it the grappling hook, the bow or the Pegasus boots - opens up new paths and possibilities. The interplay between the world of light and shadow is particularly exciting and requires strategic thinking and creative use of equipment.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past also impresses technically: the lovingly designed 16-bit graphics, the atmospheric soundtrack and the well thought-out game design create a dense atmosphere and an unforgettable gaming experience. The controls are precise and the balance between action, exploration and puzzles is almost perfect.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past not only laid the foundations for many later Zelda titles, but also shaped generations of players. It is a timeless classic that still inspires today - whether for the first time or a nostalgic rediscovery.
