The Smurfs travel around the world

CHF 10.00

The Smurfs Travel the World (original title: The Smurfs Travel the World) was released in 1996 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) and is a classic 2D jump-'n'-run adventure starring Peyo's popular blue cartoon characters. It is the successor to the 1994 game "The Smurfs" and is aimed primarily at younger players and fans of the cartoon series.

The story of The Smurfs Travels Around the World begins with the evil wizard Gargamel having brought a new evil to the world, which can even be felt outside the Smurf village. To restore the balance, the Smurfs set off on a journey around the globe. They visit well-known places such as Egypt, the Amazon, Russia, China and even the North Pole.

The gameplay of The Smurfs Travel the World is kept simple and is based on classic platformers: You control a Smurf through various levels, jump over chasms, avoid enemies and collect items such as stars and bonus symbols. Each level is lovingly designed graphically and thematically adapted to the respective country - with matching backdrops, music and opponents.

The controls in The Smurfs Travel the World are precise, the levels are relatively linear and well suited to beginners. However, the level of difficulty increases significantly later on in the game - particularly due to tight time limits, precise jumping and hidden traps.

Graphically, The Smurfs Travel the World impresses with colorful, detailed backgrounds and charming animations that remain true to the style of the animated series. The soundtrack is also varied and underlines the respective world with appropriate music.

The Smurfs Travel the World is an entertaining platform game with a lot of heart and a lovely design that should appeal to fans of the Smurfs or younger players in particular. It combines simple game mechanics with a global adventure that scores points for creativity and atmosphere - even if it doesn't quite match up to genre greats such as Donkey Kong Country or Super Mario World in terms of gameplay.
