Biohazard 3: Last Escape is an intense survival horror game that was re-released for the Nintendo GameCube in 2003. Originally released in 1999 for the PlayStation, Biohazard 3: Last Escape is the third main installment in Capcom's popular Resident Evil series. In Japan, the series is called Biohazard, hence the title on the GameCube version.

The storyline of Biohazard 3: Last Escape takes place parallel to and shortly after the events of Resident Evil 2. In Biohazard 3: Last Escape, players take on the role of Jill Valentine, one of the survivors of the first game, who is trying to escape from Raccoon City, which has been overrun by zombies. But the path to freedom is anything but easy - because alongside the undead and mutated creatures, Jill is being pursued by an unstoppable super soldier: the terrifying Nemesis.

Compared to its predecessors, Biohazard 3: Last Escape focuses more on action and quick decisions without losing sight of the oppressive atmosphere and the fight for survival. Particularly noteworthy in Biohazard 3: Last Escape is the new "Live Selection" system, in which players have to choose between two paths of action at critical moments - with direct consequences for the further course of the game.

The gameplay of Biohazard 3: Last Escape remains true to its classic survival horror roots: fixed camera angles, limited ammunition, puzzles, item management and exploring the environment take center stage. New additions in Biohazard 3: Last Escape are evasive maneuvers, a rudimentary crafting system for ammunition production and more dynamic enemy encounters - especially with the Nemesis, who appears at irregular intervals and unexpectedly.

Technically, the GameCube version of Biohazard 3: Last Escape is based on the PlayStation version, but has been slightly reworked graphically. Textures are a little clearer, loading times are shorter and the general performance is more stable. It is not a complete remake like the later remake for modern systems - but it is probably the best classic version of the game for collectors and retro fans.

Biohazard 3: Last Escape on the GameCube is a thrilling classic that cleverly combines action and horror and introduced the iconic enemy Nemesis to video game history. For fans of the series and classic survival horror, Biohazard 3: Last Escape is an unmissable chapter.
