Oddworld Adventures is an action platformer for the Nintendo Game Boy that was developed by Saffire and published by GT Interactive in 1998. Oddworld Adventures is a heavily scaled-down demake version of Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, in which the scope was reduced to just one area - the Paramonian Temple.
In Oddworld Adventures, you take on the role of Abe, the Mudokon, and have to fight your way through the mysterious Paramonian Temple. Numerous dangers await you in Oddworld Adventures: falling boulders, landmines and enemies put you to the test again and again.
Oddworld Adventures also contains the famous GameSpeak system, albeit to a very limited extent. In Oddworld Adventures you only have four GameSpeak commands at your disposal - fart, high whistle, low whistle and sing - which are only used in a special puzzle.
As Oddworld Adventures does not have a save mode, Oddworld Adventures uses a five-character password system to record your progress.
The presentation in Oddworld Adventures is greatly reduced: The graphics are rudimentary and Abe often looks tiny. The controls in Oddworld Adventures have also often been criticized - Abe moves too quickly, making it easy to fall into traps or run into enemies.
Oddworld Adventures relies on classic puzzle and platforming mechanics where you have to act cleverly to overcome obstacles - such as silent sneaking or distraction techniques - despite the limited control.
In Oddworld Adventures, the playing time is only a few minutes - typically around an hour - as Oddworld Adventures is limited to a single temple area.
