The Sega Saturn is a 32-bit home video game console developed by Sega and launched in Japan in 1994 and in North America and Europe in 1995. It was the successor console to the successful Sega Mega Drive (Genesis) and tried to keep up with the emerging competition such as the Sony PlayStation and the Nintendo 64. Despite its advanced technology, the Sega Saturn only achieved limited commercial success and was overtaken by the PlayStation in many markets.
