The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is an action-adventure game released by Nintendo for the Nintendo 64 in 2000. It is the direct sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and is known for its dark atmosphere, complex time mechanics and deep storyline. Unlike Ocarina of Time, which offers a more classic heroic story narrative, Majora's Mask has a much more unusual and unsettling narrative.
The story of Majora's Mask begins with Link, the hero from Ocarina of Time, who arrives in a mysterious land called Termina on his journey. There he learns that the moon threatens to crash down on the world in three days and destroy the entire land. The moon is controlled by a mysterious figure called Majora, who is possessed by a masked being. Link must find out how he can prevent the impending doom and defeat Majora's power.
Time becomes a central theme in the game, as Link only has 72 hours (three days in the game) to solve the puzzle and stop the moon. A central mechanic is time travel, in which Link can turn back the course of time to repeat tasks and change the fate of Termina.
