Donkey Kong 64 is a platform adventure that was released exclusively for the Nintendo 64 in 1999. It was developed by Rare and is the first 3D game in the Donkey Kong series. The game follows the adventures of Donkey Kong and his friends as they fight against the evil K. Rool, who wants to conquer their home, DK Island.
The story of Donkey Kong 64 begins with the villain King K. Rool sending his army to DK Island and threatening the island with a sinister weapon. Donkey Kong and his friends - Diddy Kong, Tiny Kong, Lanky Kong and Chunky Kong - must join forces to defeat K. Rool and his henchmen and save the island. Each of the Kongs has unique abilities that enable the player to solve various tasks and defeat opponents.
There are a total of five playable characters in the game, each with special abilities that are needed in the course of the game to reach new areas and solve puzzles. Donkey Kong is the strongest, while Diddy Kong is fast, Tiny Kong is small and agile, Lanky Kong stretches and Chunky Kong is particularly powerful. To make progress, the player must skillfully switch between the characters and use their different abilities.
