With Pro Wrestling, Nintendo brought a piece of hard-hitting action to the Famicom Disk System in 1986. As one of the very first wrestling games, it set new standards for the genre - with a surprising variety of moves, individual wrestler designs and plenty of retro charm.
The player chooses from six unique fighters, including classics such as the muscleman fighter Hayabusa or the mysterious Starman with his spectacular jumping attacks. Each character has their own special moves, which gives the game a high degree of personality despite its simple technique.
There's plenty of action in the ring: kicks, throws, flying kicks - and of course the classic pin. You can fight in one-on-one mode against the CPU or in an exciting duel with a friend. The aim is to win the champion title and defend it against ever stronger opponents.
The fluid animation is particularly remarkable - a real rarity at the time. The iconic moment when the referee counts "1... 2... 3!" and the cheers erupt will never be forgotten. The disk version also allows you to save your progress - a feature that is particularly appealing to single players.
