Dark Cloud

Dark Cloud is an atmospheric action role-playing game with building elements that is one of the PlayStation 2's early but particularly charming titles. Developed by Level-5, Dark Cloud invites you on an adventure that combines classic dungeon crawling with a unique world-building mechanic.

The story of Dark Cloud begins in a peaceful village that - like many other places - was destroyed by a sinister demon called the Dark Genie. At the last second, a powerful spirit was able to save the buildings, objects and people of the world in so-called Atla Spheres and hide them inside dungeons. This is where you come in: as the young hero Toan, you set out to recover the scattered Atla, defeat monsters and rebuild the world piece by piece.

At the heart of Dark Cloud is the combination of action role-playing and city building. In procedurally generated dungeons, you fight in real time against a variety of enemies, collect loot and find the important Atla. Afterwards, you return to the surface and - similar to a building game - place new houses, trees, rivers and inhabitants according to your ideas or the wishes of the villagers.

Over time, you will meet new playable characters in Dark Cloud, each with their own abilities that will help you in battle and when exploring the dungeons. Your equipment can also be upgraded in Dark Cloud - especially your weapons, which become stronger with use but can also break if you don't look after them.

Dark Cloud delights with its loving style, a fairytale atmosphere and original gameplay that cleverly combines role-playing and creativity. Dark Cloud is a quieter but rewarding adventure that will stay with you for a long time thanks to its charm, music and special gameplay.
