With Anubis: Zone of the Enders (internationally known as Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner), Konami delivers a fast-paced mecha action game that impresses both visually and in terms of gameplay. Developed under the direction of Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear Solid), this game clearly stands out from the typical sci-fi standard - with cinematic presentation, stylish design and a unique combat system.
You take on the role of Dingo Egret, a former pilot who takes over the legendary Orbital Frame Jehuty after a stroke of fate. The focus is on the fierce battle against the forces of BAHRAM - above all against the overpowering Frame Anubis, the game's namesake. The story is dark, emotional and is told in spectacular cutscenes.
The gameplay of Anubis: Zone of the Enders impresses with fast, stylish aerial battles in which you float through space in 360° environments, attack with energy bolts, smash enemies in close combat and defeat huge bosses. Jehuty can unlock new abilities as the game progresses, making the combat system increasingly varied.
Graphically, Anubis was ahead of its time: anime-inspired character designs, elaborate lighting effects and buttery-smooth animations create an intense sci-fi atmosphere. The soundtrack is epic and adds to the pace of the game.
Anubis: Zone of the Enders is an absolute insider tip for all fans of mecha, sci-fi and stylish action. With its innovative combat system, gripping story and first-class production, it is one of the most impressive titles of the PS2 era - and still one of the best mecha games ever.
