NHL 99 is a realistic ice hockey simulation game released in 1998 by EA Sports for the Nintendo 64. As part of the successful NHL series, NHL 99 offers an authentic NHL feeling with licensed teams, players and stadiums from the 1998/99 season.

Compared to previous ice hockey games on the N64, NHL 99 focuses more on simulation than arcade action. This means: realistic gameplay, strategic moves, individual player skills and believable puck behavior. All 27 NHL teams of that season are represented in NHL 99, including real players, current squads and statistics.

NHL 99 offers several modes, including Season, Playoffs, Exhibition and Shootout, as well as extensive statistics and team management options. The multiplayer mode in particular ensures long-lasting gaming fun - ideal for thrilling duels on the virtual ice.

Graphically, NHL 99 impresses with detailed player animations and a smooth presentation, even if NHL 99 doesn't quite come close to the versions for PlayStation or PC. Nevertheless, it is one of the better sports titles on the N64, especially because of its depth of play and variety of licenses.
