Pokémon Golden Edition (original title: Pokémon Gold Version) is the second major installment in the popular Pokémon role-playing game series and was first released in 1999 in Japan and 2001 in Europe for the Game Boy Color. Pokémon Golden Edition is the sister edition to the Silver Edition and marks the beginning of the second Pokémon generation, which introduced a lot of new content and game mechanics.
In Pokémon Golden Edition, you once again take on the role of a young trainer who sets out to catch Pokémon, collect medals and ultimately defeat the Pokémon League. Instead of the familiar Kanto region, this time Pokémon Golden Edition takes you to a new area called Johto, which offers fresh locations, its own culture and new challenges. But what's special: After completing the main story, you can also travel back to the Kanto region from the first games - a feature that is still unique in the main series today.
Pokémon Golden Edition introduces 100 new Pokémon, including iconic creatures such as Endivie, Feurigel, Karnimani, Ampharos and the legendary cover Pokémon Ho-Oh. In total, you can catch and train over 250 Pokémon in Pokémon Golden Edition, many of which are only available in this edition.
