Igo: Kyu Roban Taikyoku / JAP

CHF 10.00

Igo: Kyū Roban Taikyoku (jap. 囲碁 九路盤対局) is a Go game that was released exclusively for the Famicom Disk System in Japan in 1987. Developed by Bullet-Proof Software, it was the studio's first Famicom game, which was later also released for the NES.

Igo: Kyū Roban Taikyoku is aimed at beginners and uses a 9×9 board, as opposed to the traditional 19×19 board, to reduce complexity and provide a faster playing experience.

Particularly noteworthy in Igo: Kyū Roban Taikyoku is the learning mode, in which ninjas appear as mascots and teach the player the rules and strategies of the game.

Igo: Kyū Roban Taikyoku is controlled using the directional pad and the A or B buttons to place stones. There is also a two-player mode that allows you to play against a friend.

The release of Igo: Kyū Roban Taikyoku on the Famicom Disk System made it possible to save game saves, which was a handy feature for the time.

Overall, Igo: Kyū Roban Taikyoku offers an accessible introduction to the complex game of Go and remains a remarkable example of early digital conversions of classic board games.
