With Exciting Billiards, Konami released a varied and surprisingly in-depth billiards game exclusively for the Famicom Disk System in 1987. As the first title in Konami's "Exciting Sports" series, it focuses on classic game modes paired with an exciting career system.
Exciting Billiards offers four different game variants, including Nine Ball, Rotation and the free Rack Game. Particularly noteworthy is the Break Shot mode, in which you travel as a billiard player through various cities in the USA - from New York to Las Vegas to Beverly Hills. New opponents and challenges await in each city, and the prize money won is used to finance the next step in your career.
The controls in Exciting Billiards are pleasantly intuitive: use the directional pad to set the angle and the A/B buttons to set the force of the shot. You can switch between different views to find the perfect angle for your next move.
Visually, Exciting Billiards impresses with a clear top view and a simple but coherent presentation of the tables and balls. Thanks to the diskette function, the game progress can be saved - a real relief for longer tournaments.
