The Settlers for the Nintendo DS is a building and economic simulation game that was released by Ubisoft on July 12, 2007. Developed by Blue Byte, it is based on the classic "The Settlers II - Veni, Vidi, Vici" and has been specially optimized for the handheld.

The game allows players to build a thriving settlement by mining resources, constructing buildings and creating a functioning road network. The game is mainly controlled via the touch screen of the Nintendo DS, with the lower screen being used for direct interaction with the settlement, while the upper screen provides an overview map. The view can be switched between the two screens as required.

The Settlers for DS offers four playable races: Romans, Vikings, Nubians and Asians. Each race has unique characteristics and buildings. There are two main campaigns: the Roman Campaign and the World Campaign. You can also play against computer-controlled opponents in free play mode.

The Settlers for Nintendo DS offers a solid implementation of the classic building game for on the go. Despite technical limitations and a lack of modern features, fans of the series and lovers of economic simulations can have fun with it. However, the steep learning curve could be a challenge for beginners.
